Windrow composting with membrane

Composting with the aid of a semi-permeable membrane

To safeguard against odor emissions, a semi-permeable membrane can be applied to static rotting units. This membrane must be combined with positive aeration. The effort required for manipulation makes periodic turning an uneconomical practice, for the most part.

The semi-permeable membrane can make a major contribution to odor reduction during the composting process. However, the membrane must be removed during manipulation or turning, which means that odor and dust emissions (bioaerosols) cannot be prevented for a short period.
