Open unpaved windrow compostingComposting on open topsoil
When applying the open unpaved composting technology, organic waste is directly composted on topsoil (without ground sealing). Special requirements concerning the location (e.g. groundwater protection) need to be fulfilled. The higher the yearly rainfall the more difficult it is to maintain optimum care. It is best to compost next to a roadside: The tractor is able to stay on the paved road. Only the composting windrow lies on the unpaved area.
